TuTu is your class platform and AI teaching assistant — built by Li-hsin specifically for her classes. It is where you find your course content, submit assignments, check your grades, read announcements, and get the kind of learning support that Li-hsin wants to give you but cannot provide personally 24 hours a day.

Li-hsin has spent many hours teaching TuTu about boundaries — what counts as helping you grow, what crosses into doing the work for you, and what academic integrity looks like in this class. You do not need to figure those lines out on your own. TuTu is designed to ask the right questions, point out where you are stuck, and help you see your own draft more clearly. Used this way, TuTu will help you produce better quality assignments and support real growth in your English at the same time.

🐰 The secret reason
Between us — Li-hsin is neurodivergent (ADHD). She struggles with some things and is naturally good at others. When creating her own digital twin, she felt a curious, bouncy rabbit best resembled her teaching brain.
ここだけの話、Li-hsinはneurodivergent（ADHD）です。自分のデジタル分身を作るとき、好奇心旺盛で跳ねるようなうさぎが自分の教える脳に一番似ていると感じました。
Li-hsin's family name is 杜 (Hanyu pinyin: dù). Romanized in Taiwan's Wade-Giles system, it is spelled "Tu" — the way it appears on her passport. In Mandarin, 兔 (tù) means rabbit. It's a cute pun.
Li-hsinの苗字は「杜」。台湾のウェード式ローマ字では「Tu」と綴られます。中国語で「兔（tù）」は「うさぎ」。ちょっとしたかわいい言葉遊びです。
Rabbits in Japanese culture carry meanings that fit a teaching assistant well. They only hop forward — a folk symbol of advancement, of moving forward one step at a time, which is exactly what English learning asks of you. The moon rabbit in folklore is diligent and tireless, pounding mochi all night while the world sleeps; in the same spirit, TuTu works through the night so that you and Li-hsin don't have to. Rabbits are also lucky in Japan, and clever — in 因幡の白兎, the hare outwits sharks to cross the sea.

TuTu works as an installable app on your phone. After you log in, follow the prompt to add TuTu to your home screen. On iPhone, tap the share button and then "Add to Home Screen." On Android, the install banner appears automatically.

TuTu is your learning management system. All the course content that used to live in Canvas now lives here.

The Modules page shows the shape of your course — organized by unit or week. Each module contains lessons, readings, links, and assignments. Some modules may show as "Coming soon" with a 🔒 — that content will open as the course progresses.

Every post also has an English Corner — a few useful words and expressions from that week's post, with Japanese meanings and example sentences. A small, regular way to grow your vocabulary.
各投稿にはEnglish Cornerもあります。その週の投稿から役立つ単語や表現を、日本語の意味と例文つきで紹介します。少しずつ語彙を増やせます。
Class discussion boards for topics Li-hsin sets up. You can post, reply to classmates, and have conversations. Your project group may also have its own private discussion space.

When project groups are active, the Groups page is your team's private space. You will find your group members, shared announcements, and a group discussion area there.

📝 Changing your mind
Nothing is final until you lock it in. You can review TuTu's preliminary feedback, close without locking, and try again as often as you need before the deadline. Once you lock in, that's your final submission. If you lock in by mistake, contact Li-hsin and she can reset it.

Once you submit, TuTu reviews your work and gives you preliminary feedback and a score based on Li-hsin's rubric. Your assignment is not yet locked at this point.

Your final grade has three components:
Blog posts are graded on completion, not writing quality. The base is simple: 10 points for posting your entry on time, 5 points for commenting on at least 2 classmates' posts. That is 15/15 every week, guaranteed.
ブログは書く内容の質ではなく提出したかどうかで評価。投稿で10点、2人以上のクラスメートにコメントで5点。毎週15/15が保証されます。
You can earn extra credit (up to +5 per week) by commenting on additional classmates beyond the required 2.

Here is the important part: the model that grades your blog submission (Haiku 4.5) is fast and good at counting, but it is not great with nuance. It may miss extra effort you put in, or not catch that you commented on more people than you listed. That is where the chat button on the assignment page comes in. The chat runs on a smarter model (Sonnet) that can understand context and has the authority to grant extra credit and handle resubmission requests (for example, if you submitted a wrong link). No ask, no receive — Li-hsin's words. If you feel the grader missed something, open the chat and just say it.

Late blog submissions automatically score zero. TuTu will still give you feedback so you can learn from the work. If you'd like Li-hsin to consider restoring the points, contact her directly with your reason.
締切後のブログ提出は自動的に0点です。点数を戻してもらいたい場合は理由を添えてLi-hsinに直接ご連絡ください。
When you submit a UP, TuTu gives you detailed feedback in three sections (what you did well, suggestions, three takeaways) and a band (A, B, C, D, or F) showing roughly where your draft lands. You will see the band immediately, but the exact numerical grade comes later — Li-hsin personally reviews every UP and decides the final number.

You do not need an assignment to talk to TuTu. The chat is always open for anything related to the class — or just to practice your English.
課題がなくてもTuTuと話せます。授業に関することは何でも聞けますし、英語の練習にも使えます。
You don't have to leave your work to ask TuTu something. Besides the main Chat page, a floating 🐰 button follows you through the app and opens a side panel right where you are — so whatever you're reading or working on stays on screen while you ask about it:

Remember, you are always the writer. TuTu is here to help you think, not to think for you. TuTu will not write your assignments for you, and copying what TuTu writes and submitting it as your own work is not acceptable.

When you submit a Unit Project, TuTu gives you a structured assessment with sections and three takeaways. For all other work — blogs, in-class writing, day-to-day chatting about your drafts — TuTu responds conversationally with shorter, more flexible feedback.
Unit Projectでは構成的な評価を返します。それ以外の課題では、より短く柔軟な会話形式でフィードバックを返します。
TuTu is not one single AI model — it uses different models for different jobs, each chosen for what it does best.
TuTuは1つのAIモデルではなく、それぞれの仕事に最適なモデルを使い分けています。
💰 Why different models?
Li-hsin originally ran everything on Claude Sonnet — the model she felt was the most human. But when UP1 submissions started coming in, she discovered that grading a single class's UPs on Sonnet would cost over $150 in three days. That is not sustainable on a research budget. After a lot of testing, she found that Gemini 2.5 Pro gives equally strong analytical feedback at a fraction of the cost — which means TuTu can keep running for everyone through the rest of the semester.
Li-hsinは最初すべてをClaude Sonnetで動かしていました。しかしUP1の提出が始まると、1クラスのUP採点だけで3日間に150ドル以上かかることが判明。研究費では持続できません。テストの結果、Gemini 2.5 Proが同等に強い分析フィードバックをはるかに低コストで提供できることがわかり、TuTuを学期末まで運用し続けられるようになりました。
Li-hsin continues to monitor and evaluate the models. If a better option becomes available — or if costs change — she may adjust what runs under the hood. You will always be told about major changes through announcements.

👛 Why limited?
Each time TuTu goes online, it costs a small amount from Li-hsin's research fund. Not a problem — just a reason to be intentional. Come with a relevant question and a clear purpose. 🥕

TuTu can go online when you ask, but first it will ask you two quick questions: (1) Which assignment is this for? (2) What are you trying to learn or find out? Once your purpose is clear, TuTu helps you.

Your conversations with TuTu are between you and TuTu. Li-hsin may ask you to show her your chats in two situations: (1) if a piece of your work sounds too artificial, she will ask you to show the relevant chat and give you a chance to rewrite in your own voice; (2) if you raise a grade concern in an assignment's comment thread and she needs more context. Outside of these, your chats stay private.
TuTuとの会話はあなたとTuTuだけのものです。Li-hsinがチャットを見せてほしいとお願いするのは、(1) 提出物がAIっぽく聞こえる場合、(2) 課題のコメント欄で成績について相談し、文脈確認が必要な場合のみです。

Q.I can't log in. ／ ログインできません。
A.Use your full university email as the ID (with @gks.unii.ac.jp) and the initial password from Li-hsin. If it still doesn't work, contact Li-hsin directly.
大学メールアドレス全体をIDとして、Li-hsinから配布された初期パスワードを使ってください。それでもだめならLi-hsinに直接連絡してください。
Q.Can I use TuTu in Japanese? ／ 日本語で使えますか？
A.Yes. TuTu responds in whichever language you use. Mix them freely.

Q.What if I accidentally lock in the wrong submission? ／ 間違えて確定してしまったら？
A.Contact Li-hsin and she can reset it for you. That is the only way to undo a locked submission.

Q.Will TuTu give me the same grade Li-hsin would? ／ Li-hsinと同じ評価になりますか？
A.TuTu uses Li-hsin's rubric, so usually yes. But TuTu is not perfect. For Unit Projects, Li-hsin always personally reviews and finalizes the grade, and you can raise anything in the assignment's comment thread. For blogs and class assignments, if something looks off, open the chat button on that assignment's page (remember: no ask, no receive).

Q.Is using TuTu the same as cheating with AI? ／ TuTuを使うのはAIズルと同じですか？
A.No. TuTu is designed for learning, not for replacing your work. Having TuTu explain a concept, ask you questions, or give you feedback is like working with a tutor. Having TuTu write your post for you is dishonest, and TuTu will not help you do that.

Q.What if TuTu is wrong about something? ／ TuTuが間違えたら？
A.It can happen. If something TuTu says contradicts what Li-hsin said in class, trust Li-hsin and let her know. If TuTu is misbehaving technically, use the "Report an app problem" button.

Q.Why does TuTu sometimes sound different? ／ TuTuの話し方が時々違うのはなぜ？
A.TuTu uses different AI models for different tasks. The chat model (Claude Sonnet) is chosen for being the most conversational and natural to talk to. The grading models are chosen for analytical strength — they need to process Li-hsin's detailed rubrics, your student context, and the specific expectations for each assignment. That takes a different kind of AI. So when TuTu's feedback on a UP sounds more structured and less chatty than your conversations, that is by design — not a bug.
TuTuはタスクごとに異なるAIモデルを使っています。チャットモデルは最も会話的なものを、採点モデルは分析力の高いものを選んでいます。UPのフィードバックがチャットより構造的に聞こえるのは意図的なものです。
Q.Can I talk to TuTu about things unrelated to class? ／ 授業以外のことも話していいですか？
A.Yes! Feel free to practice your English on any topic. However, for personal, medical, or mental health concerns, please reach out to UNP's 健康支援センター (Health and Wellness Center, コモンズ3号館1F, 025-270-7160) or someone you trust. TuTu is a study companion, not a counselor.

Q.The submit box is missing on my assignment. Why? ／ 提出ボックスがありません。なぜ？
A.Some work doesn't use the normal submit box. Peer reviews and group assignments are done in your Groups space; quizzes open in their own page. See "Some assignments work differently" in section 4.

Q.What is My Study Bank? ／ My Study Bankとは？
A.It's your personal collection of useful words and expressions. You can save them while reading, while chatting with TuTu (TuTu will offer), or by hand — then review them later or turn them into flashcards.

Q.Where did Canvas go? ／ Canvasはどうなりましたか？
A.Canvas was discontinued at UNP without warning. TuTu was built to replace it, and now does so completely. All your course content, assignments, grades, and communication live in TuTu. There is no need to check Canvas for anything.
CanvasはUNPで予告なくサービスが終了しました。TuTuはその代わりとして作られ、今では完全に置き換えています。授業コンテンツ、課題、成績、連絡のすべてがTuTuにあります。Canvasを確認する必要はありません。

TuTu is still growing. Li-hsin builds and improves it every week alongside her teaching. That means: expect TuTu to sometimes make mistakes, slow down, or hit bugs. Your feedback — what works, what doesn't, what feels off — is genuinely appreciated and will shape what TuTu becomes.
